"We treat the cause, not just this symptoms"

If you have been suffering from sinus headaches, clear or discolored runny nose, constant post nasal drip, continuous and serial sneezing, itchy, watery eyes, coughing, wheezing, and phlegm, you might have allergies. You probably have treated yourself with over the counter medications or have been prescribed some allergy medications which just temporarily relieve symptoms. After a while, these medications are not effective any more, complicate the situation and increase side effects. The reason for this is that the cause of symptoms is not known and the patient has been treated symptomatically.

As an example: A 40 year old woman was suffering from a chronic cough for several years. She was treated with different cough syrups, such as narcotics and antibiotics, but the cough did not go away. After a thorough examination and routine allergy testing, we found the cause of chronic cough was not allergies or asthma, but was due to an acid reflux. After she was treated for this condition, the cough completely subsided.

Many times patients' asthma is manifested by chronic, constant coughing that will not go under control by cough syrup or antibiotics. These patients stop coughing when they are treated with asthma medications.

In the case of a 14 year old girl, we found the cause of constant coughing was emotional due to her parents' divorce. This type of cough is called tic cough, or psychogenic cough. These are just a few examples of the complexity of our field. Numerous other situations like these happen every day.

Therefore, we recommend, if you have been suffering from a chronic allergic respiratory illness and other allergic diseases, consult with a specialist so that, after finding the cause of your condition, you can be treated properly.

Besides the above conditions, pet allergy, eye allergy, eczema, hives, bee sting allergies and many more conditions are in the scope of our field of Allergy and Immunology.
